Instructions
- Combine brown sugar and water in a saucepan.
- Heat over medium heat, stirring until sugar is completely dissolved (about 3-5 minutes).
- Add any optional flavorings (vanilla, cinnamon, orange peel) and let the mixture simmer for 1-2 minutes.
- Remove from heat and allow to cool.
- Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 month.
Notes
For a thicker syrup, use a 2:1 ratio of brown sugar to water. The syrup can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a month, or frozen in ice cube trays for up to 3 months.
