Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 2 tbsp gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 onion, diced
- 1 bell pepper, diced
- 1 carrot, julienned
- 2 cups cooked rice (preferably short-grain)
- 2 eggs, fried sunny-side up
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds
- 2 green onions, sliced
- Kimchi (optional)
Instructions
- Heat a pan over medium heat and brown the ground beef, breaking it into small pieces as it cooks. Season with salt and pepper.
- In a small bowl, mix gochujang, soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, and sugar. Add the sauce to the browned beef, stir well, and cook for a few minutes until fully coated.
- While the beef cooks, sauté the diced onion, bell pepper, and carrot until tender.
- Prepare the rice as the base of the bowl. Once cooked, fluff it and set it aside.
- To assemble, place a scoop of rice in a bowl, top with the seasoned ground beef, sautéed vegetables, and kimchi (if using).
- Fry eggs sunny-side up and place them on top of the beef and rice.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions. Drizzle with sesame oil before serving.
Notes
For a vegetarian version, replace the ground beef with tofu or tempeh. Adjust the level of spiciness by modifying the amount of gochujang.
